Valium

The relevance of these findings to the effect of diazepam on thyroid function is discussed. What other drugs will affect Synthroid?

Many other medicines can be affected by your thyroid hormone levels. Certain other medicines may also increase or decrease the effects of Synthroid. Using multivitamin with minerals together with levothyroxine may decrease the effects of levothyroxine.

These foods should be avoided within several hours of dosing if possible. It is important to tell your doctor about all other medications you use, including vitamins and herbs. Do not stop using any medications without first talking to your doctor. Studies on the in vitro effects of Librium and Valium on the circulating thyroid hormones, their binding and on the binding proteins showed that Valium can affect the triiodothyronine binding capacity and free thyroxine index three times more than Librium. Though these drugs affect some thyroid function tests, in vivo administration to rabbits over three months failed to alter these parameters. We have presented data suggesting that these drugs produce no changes in thyroid function (as they indeed do in some thyroid function tests).

You should separate the administration of levothyroxine and multivitamin with minerals by at least 4 hours. If your doctor does prescribe these medications together, you may need a dose adjustment or special test to safely use both medications. This increase occurred without alteration in serum thyroid stimulating hormone levels.

Synthroid side effects

Tell any doctor, dentist, or surgeon who treats you that you are using Synthroid. Follow all directions on your prescription label and read all medication guides or instruction sheets. Synthroid is also used in patients who need surgery and radioiodine therapy to manage a type of thyroid cancer called well-differentiated thyroid cancer.

Interactions between your drugs

Assessment was made before and after four weeks’ therapy. Do not store the crushed tablet/water mixture and do not administer it mixed with foods that decrease absorption of levothyroxine, such as soybean-based infant formula. Synthroid should not be used to treat obesity or weight problems. Dangerous side effects or death can occur from the misuse of levothyroxine, especially if you are taking any other weight-loss medications or appetite suppressants.
